Story At 12am my friend and neighbor gifted me a GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition> and the story behind it means more than the GPU itself.
Tonight turned into a moment I’ll never forget. My good friend and neighbor invited me into his home at midnight after he got off work, showed me their Christmas tree, handed me a bag, and said “Merry Christmas, my friend.” Inside was a GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition. But the GPU itself is only part of why this hit me so hard. He told me the history behind it> how this card has traveled across the United States twice, was owned and cared for by him, his son, and a close friend. It’s been gamed on, appreciated, and respected every step of the way. And tonight, it was passed on to me. He simply said: “enjoy this it makes me happy your happy man.” I was shaking. Still am, honestly. I’ve never owned anything like this. The kindness, trust, and friendship behind it mean more than the performance ever could>though I’m beyond excited knowing this legendary card still has so much life left in it. This wasn’t just a GPU gift. It was a memory, a moment, and a reminder that this community and the people around us> can be incredibly good. I’ll take care of this card like it deserves. And I’ll remember this night for the rest of my life. Merry Christmas, PCMR

Hardware Joining you in 2026, but scared about building it for my first time
After a few years I’m joining PC gaming again. I was so undecided about it, but was lucky enough to buy the RAM for 160€ back in November and it all followed.
What scares me the most is building all this, but after some videos it doesn’t seem too complicated, just like follow common sense and the experts online. Just wondering how will it all fit inside the mini v2, but compatibility all checked out when I looked it up.

Question Is this a good deal for my son?
Costco has the cyber power pc back on sale.
It’s $900 after a rebate and on pcpartpicker it seems to run about 1100.
I know the current RAM craze is skewing the price some but I’m just curious how this spec is for the overall price.

Box Finally got my first new GPU!
I finally got my first new GPU, the 5060Ti! I did my research and ordered the 16GB model, and actually runs very well. I always bought used GPUs as I felt like it would’ve been better and cheaper, but I decided to treat myself and got a 5060Ti as a late birthday gift to myself.

Story 25 years of building PCs, and today is the most special one yet
I have just finished building my oldest son's first PC using some of my old parts (3060 Ti, Ryzen 3600, 32GB DDR4 3200, 1TB ssd). It's a solid little machine for schoolwork and 1080p gaming, and I know he's going to be absolutely buzzing when he sees it.
I'm so used to technology breaking the moment the warranty is up, but this old BenQ V2400 ECO monitor just refuses to quit. I brought it with me from Spain when I moved to England back in 2010, and it has followed me through Bradford, Leeds, York, and eventually up to Edinburgh 12 years ago. Seven house moves (maybe eight?) and it's still going strong. It is genuinely living up to the Eco name.
I did feel a bit guilty about not getting him a brand new monitor, but we are on a budget. Between the new house, our three year old and nursery and after school costs (with no family in the country to help), we have to be smart with money. Also, this monitor has so much history that I almost prefer him having it.
I have got my first computer about 27 years ago, and I have been in love with computers and technology ever since. Being able to finally share that passion with my son feels really special. This is his Christmas surprise from us (getting it today), and the plan is that every upgrade from now on, we do together.
I'm a very happy dad today, and I cannot wait to see his face. I just wanted to share my joy.
PS: A new keyboard is arriving today, the one I bought is too small for him, specially for schoolwork (easier to input number and all that).

Happy holidays!

Hardware Amazing Wife (5080)
So I had been planning on upgrading for a while and I mentioned it to my wife a few times. I also had a noctua build that I wanted to complete with the noctua 5080. It is hard to find and was just going to try and get one in the upcoming year.
To my surprise my wife got me one for Christmas and gave it to me early. I was so happy and the card is running amazing. I am coming from a 5070 and the 40% increase and the extra vram is very nice.

Discussion You no longer need MS Store to install Game Pass games - you can use CMD or Bash
You no longer need to use MS Store app to install games from Game Pass. Now you can do it from CMD… or even using Bash (Linux command line interface). This new 'store' command could be very useful for:
- easily reinstalling your PC. All you need is to list all installed games/apps and create a simple script that will reinstall them on your new PC.
- game launchers like Steam, GOG, Epic, Armoury Crate, MSI or Lenovo could allow users to install, update or uninstall any Game Pass games directly from their own interface without launching MS Store app. All they need is to run a CMD command in the background.
- this could potentially help Linux users access Game Pass games in the future. Not today… but it could be a huge milestone. The Linux community working on WINE no longer needs to worry about MS Store app itself. Maybe this will be helpful for them
I expect that very soon we'll see new versions of Armoury Crate and Steam Big Picture that allow users to install, update and uninstall any Game Pass games. This 'store' command is really easy to parse by other apps. This is good news for people who want to connect a PC to a TV as a console‑like device and use a gamepad instead of a mouse. For example on my handheld, I use Armoury Crate in Windows 11 full‑screen experience mode instead of the classic windows desktop. I usually keep this device docked to my TV just like a console.
Those IDs returned from 'store' commands match unique IDs used by Xbox website so you can easily download multimedia content like screenshots, videos... and build your own Game Pass store front-end. For example for Clair Obscur Expedition-33 this looks like this:
- store search 'Expedition 33'
- store show 9PPT8K6GQHRZ --language EN
- http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/clair-obscur-expedition-33/9ppt8k6gqhrz
I hope Valve and Epic will create a command‑line tool like this in the future. If all game stores had CLI tools, anyone could integrate them into a single frontend app. Imagine an app running in Win11 Full-Screen Experience mode that lets you install, update or delete games from any PC store without launching Steam, Epic or MS Store. It would be amazing. A true console‑like experience on PC

Tech Support PC randomly restarting (Kernel-Power 41 (63))
Hello everyone! I built my PC about 1 month ago and since then I've been experiencing random restarts, without blue screens and with no clear pattern.
Configuration:
CPU: Ryzen 5 7500F
Motherboard: Huananzhi B650M-B PRO
GPU: RX 7700 XT Gigabyte Gaming OC
RAM: T-Force 32GB DDR5 (2x16) 6000MHz
SSD: NVMe 1TB Kootion
Cooler: TGT 240mm Water Cooler
Fans: 7 in total (6 connected to SATA controller + 1 on SYS_FAN)
PSU: Revenger FO-MAX8 750W
The problem:
The PC randomly restarts under various conditions:
- During games
- During light tasks (YouTube, browser)
- While idle
- On the lock screen
There’s no blue screen. Windows just restarts as if there was a sudden power loss.
It is always logged in the Event Viewer:
Kernel-Power 41 (63)
Error log:
https://sourceb.in/smN7jONwTf
Additional strange behavior:
- Sometimes the PC shuts down when the fans suddenly increase speed
- I've noticed quick LED/fan flickering
- On one occasion, the PC wouldn't turn on and only worked again after removing all USB peripherals
- Occasionally, when the PC restarts, a black screen appears with the loading icon and a message that passes very quickly containing the word "keep"
- Screen freezes with a “zoooooom” sound and then restarts
- When I put the PC to “Sleep,” the LEDs turn off, the screen goes black, but then the LEDs turn back on and the PC resumes normally, as if it can't enter sleep properly (I will attach a video)
What I've tried:
- Reconnected all power cables (24-pin, CPU, PCIe, SATA)
- Reinstalled the RAM modules
- Cleared CMOS (removed the battery)
- Tested RAM using Windows Memory Diagnostic (no errors)
- Adjusted Windows power settings
- Ran system integrity checks
- None of this solved the issue
- Tried running the PC without the Iclamper power strip, directly into the wall (it did not restart on its own, except when I was idle on the lock screen)
Current suspicion:
My main suspicion is the PSU, as it’s not from a well-known brand and I don’t have another one available to test.
If anyone has experienced something similar or has any ideas on what else I can try before replacing components, I would really appreciate it.
Any help is welcome 🙏

Discussion The “Own nothing, be happy” prediction is becoming more true.
The scarcity of consumer hardware will grow, and companies will increasingly push cloud gaming and cloud based solutions.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Jensen uses the upcoming NVIDIA event to promote cloud gaming alongside limited GPU availability.
This could shift the gaming industry, with a few companies causing hardware scarcity while steering users toward cloud alternatives.
Today, we can still own our hardware and sometimes games, but in the future, playing may rely more on internet speed and subscriptions than on local devices.
I am happy for someone to challenge me on this, because I don’t want my post to be true.
