I have an old pc that is just sitting around and I’m wondering if it is at all salvageable? I want a newer Ryzen processor and gpu, I don’t like the cooler and want to swap it out also. Thanks for any advice. I’m new to pc build and not sure if I can even do this upgrade

i’ve had my sata ssd since december of 2021. had windows 10, updated to windows 11, downloaded graphics drivers on there, etc. i recently got an m.2 ssd because a friend recommended to download games on there instead of a hard drive. should i move all of my drivers and windows from my sata ssd to the m.2 ssd? what should i do?

I have tried literally everything, changing my thermal paste, getting an nvme drive, getting liquid cooling, nothing has ever worked and I am stumped.
Could anyone please tell me

I bought a galax 5080 right when it was released, it's working great and never had any issues. Most games I play don't even use 100% of it, besides a few games like monster hunter wilds.
But in the past few weeks I started to notice that even when it's using almost 88% - 100% of GPU, the fans seems to be stuck at 600 rpm as shown in MSI afterburner, with temps around 88°C (it's really hot over here right now, with temps at 33°C outside and prob hotter in my room after playing for a while) and i have no ideia why. I'm using a custom fan curve on MSI afterburner, tried to change it a bit to see but doesn't make a diference.
I thought at first that it could be an MSI problem, so i started playing cyberpunk for a while with MSI closed and I didn't think i noticed any difference in the fan noise. Now I have no ideia what I can try to fix it or if it's bad for the GPU overall, specially now that's so hot over here.
Any thoughts / advices?

First reddit post, long time stalker, and a huge thanks to the people in this sub, i could not have done this without the knowledge they shared.
This year i got really deep into building my own pc. After i finally completed my build with an upgrade from an MSI 1080ti to a Sapphire Nitro Plus 9070xt, i decided my girlfriend needed one too, so that we could spend more time together doing stuff (she is not a gamer). i went with a budget build with some parts i had laying around from upgrades to my build, as i was unsure if she would even use it. I also used this opportunity to introduce myself to the world of SFF builds (probably the last one i'll do haha)
specs for mine: AMD Ryzen 7 7700x | Sapphire Nitro Plus 9070xt | 32GB DDR5 5200mhz | NZXT H7 Flow Case | MSI 360 Liquid Cooler | MSI B650 Tomahawk | Corsair RM850x
specs for hers: Intel i7-9700k | MSI 1080ti 11GB | 32GB DDR4 3200mhz | Lian Li A3 Case | Thermalright Peerless Assassin Air Cooler | MSI Z390M Mortar | Corsair RM750x
there are certainly things to be done and things to be bought before i am 1000% satisfied, and the wiring management is atrocious, but considering this setup location is temporary until we have a house, it functions as intended and i am happy with it for now.
the pc's were both built by me and the desk for the setup was a combined effort from me, my girlfriend, and her dad (we built it out of school doors that we purchased for 10$)
Once again, i could not have done it without viewing posts from this sub when i ran into problems, thank you all for having these discussions. Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi There!
Need some help!! Tried turning pc on tonight not used it for a few days not sure if kids have messed with it etc...
But anyways it's booting to windows blue screen failure and can't use keyboard to do anything. So quick Google said could be hardware.
First thing I tried. Removed 1 stick of ram. All good. Tried both sticks individually works fine again. As soon as I put multiple sticks into the pc in any which slot it won't boot to windows.
Anyone have any ideas of troubleshooting the fault? Some images attached. Anymore Info needed please fire away.
To note both sticks light up fine. Just get the blue screen
Thank you!

I have a TUF Gaming A15 with an RTX 4070, I’ll explain what my problem is. When I play a game, if the FPS drop below the screen’s refresh rate, even 115, the game stutters or causes tearing. I tried lowering the screen refresh rate to 130 Hz, and when playing Arc Raiders, as long as it stays at 130 FPS or above, there are no issues. But the lower the Hz of the screen, the more input lag there is. When it drops below that, the problems appear. I’m playing in dGPU mode, so without the integrated graphics. I use v Sync in Nvidia panel for the tearing in general. What should I do?

What do you have?
And what would you realistically want?
Edit: this is not a general question. I’m asking each person based on their own knowledge of their budget. What do YOU consider a budget GPU. What did or would YOU buy.

Current Specs: • CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X • Mobo: ASRock B450M Steel Legend • RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz • Got the CPU/Mobo/RAM bundle used for approx. $210 USD. • GPU: RX 9060 XT 16GB • Storage(already had): 128GB SATA SSD (Boot) + 2TB External SATA SSD. • Case: Jester V2. • PSU: 550W 80+ bronze.
PC parts market in Brazil is very expensive right now, not only for Solid State Memory and RAM. I was happy I got to build this at Aprox 750$ total cost (for an example, building an am5 PC with 9600x+16gb ddr5 and a b850m motherboard new would've cost me practically double this price, close to 1400$
Planned Upgrades:
1 - CPU Cooler: DeepCool AK400 (Already purchased). 2 - NVMe SSD: I’ve been looking at these, but prices have doubled recently where I live. Do you think it would make a significant difference in daily usability and gaming compared to my current SATA SSD? 3 - RAM: Adding 2 more 8GB sticks (3200MHz) used, to reach 32GB. 4 - Case: Thinking about a larger, high-airflow case if the GPU runs too hot. I don't have AC in my PC room, so ambient temps are usually high.
Questions: • Does this build seem balanced for 1080p/1440p gaming? • Should I prioritize the NVMe or the extra RAM first? • Any suggestions for a high-airflow case that won't break the bank? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I am looking for a USB flash drive that can maintain a consistent write speed.
The requirements would be: 512 GB capacity, USB-A port, consistent write speed of at least 150-200 MB/s. If possible, the flash drive should be slightly smaller than the SanDisk Extreme Pro.
As I said, I'm not looking for the fastest USB stick, but one that can maintain a constant speed with large files. If there are brief drops in speed during transfer because the stick needs to cool down or the cache is being emptied, that would still be acceptable.
I already own the SanDisk Extreme Pro with 256 GB. What I don't like about this stick is the sliding mechanism, which looks very cheap. The length is also not ideal. Unfortunately, the 512 GB version is quite overpriced in my country, in my opinion.
That's why I'm looking for models from other manufacturers like Transcend,, Samsung etc.

Hey guys, happy holidays! Hoping that you can help me out here.
Just finished building this PC for my brother. Everything but the case fan seems to work. Yes, it's a cheap case, so there is only one. In the BIOS it shows "sys_fan1 n/a". I tried setting the fan on full speed, to no avail.
As you can see, I have it connected in the right spot. Since the BIOS recognizes the fan, a signal is probably getting through. I'm guessing it's not recieving any power?
I noticed some leftover cables in front of the case (last pic), that seem to connect to a ground. Do I need some sort of adapter to join these with the case fan cable?

I've downloaded msi afterburner/hwinfo to monitor specs to undevrolt gpu. I also downloaded a vpn to acess some stuff region locked like asian mmos. But all these are closed. I can hear my fans going when they usually are silent. Its a hp victus. In omen gaming hub i have it on "quite" performance control mode because "eco" actually raises temperature. In windows i have it on "best power efficiency". So why is my cpu 48c idle all of a sudden??

hello, i REALLY need help,i just built a new pc and im experiencing crashes when playing heavy games, like fortnite or ride 5, but with other games like lol at max graphics or p5 strikers it runs fine with no problems. on ride 5 im always crashing after 20/30 mins of playing, sometimes its a u4 fatal error and sometimes my whole pc restarts, same thing with Fortnite, it crashes or the whole pc crashes, i’ve checked and when the pc restarts its a kernel 41 error, so i thought it was a power problem but i’ve got a 750W power supply, with a amd radeon rx6900xt, ryzen 5 7600x and ddr5 36 cl 6000, it should be enough right? i’ve already tried to force dx11, deactivate optimizations from amd, upped the vram, and a lot of other things but none of them are working, my last try would be to undervolt my gpu but id rather not since i want to use what i paid for. anyone has any suggestions? im really desperate. thank you!

Hello PC experts and enthusiasts! I need your help, please.
I’m a 1080, dad gamer, with not much expendable pocket change right now. Given the current market, I am not excited, nor ready, to build a new PC.
My current PC (linked below) serves me just fine on 1080 with medium to low settings and can output 60 fps on most new games.
*My question to you:* what GPU can I upgrade to, that would squeeze the most FPS or that would bump up the settings a little more, still at 1080, but that would work with my rig just as is, without needing to change anything (PSU, CPU, MB, case, etc…).
Is this even worth considering?
I really appreciate anyone’s two cents and contributions on the topic. Much appreciated!

So I'm currently running a 5700x3D with a -20 CO, 32gb Patriot Viper running at 3600mhz and then a 9070XT with a -100mv and +10% PL.
This is running on a B550M Mortar board so limited to gen 4 only. Temps are great (25°C average on idle, 50°C average on load overall).
Trying to figure out if there is anything else I'm missing to fiddle with or do I just turn off the overlay and enjoy the system as is?

How much more fps will I get if I decide to go with the XT? It’s right now a 100$ difference between the two and I’d also have to upgrade my 650 watt psu if I got with the XT.

I don't know if this is common in other countries, but where I live there's many online stores that sell shared steam accounts with LOTS of games like hundreds or even thousands for a few dollars. Most are really organized as well. They usually send you the username and password (all games in 1 account or multiple as a package) and when steam asks for the verification code, you get it by using their dedicated TG bot by sending your order number and then account username then the bot sends you the verification code. These accounts also have the name of the store in the username and/or use the same logo. So they own these accounts and aren't reselling them. I think this is against Steam rules, but still, how do they get this massive number of games and apparently still make profit despite selling it for cheap. Like wouldn't they need to sell it THOUSANDS of times to be profitable? This means they somehow are getting these games for dirt cheap in the first place, right? If so, how?

This card is new do i have to undervolt it or did they do a bad job on the thermal paste

I bought a used Systemtreff prebuilt PC (German system integrator) on eBay with a Ryzen 7 5700G, an MSI Ventus RTX 3060 OC (12 GB), and 24 GB of DDR4 RAM.
I already have a 1440p gaming monitor and I’m thinking about upgrading the GPU to an RX 9060 XT (16 GB). The system came with a Thermaltake 750 W 80+ PSU.
My goal is better FPS at 1440p. Does this upgrade make sense, or would the 5700G become a bottleneck, meaning I’d also need a CPU upgrade?
