I'm almost 60 years old and I get this reference. My kids loved that show and we'd often watch it together

Same age, In addition to this classic, our family has kept alive the "Texting spells to yourself" joke from Wizards of Waverly Place.

My mom (about your age) described it to my dad (who didn't understand it's popularity) as "Friends for millenials" and I always felt that was so accurate. I liked Friends too, but from a comedy aspect. I liked HIMYM for the comedy but it was also relatable for me so it hit harder.
