This is a bad idea. Oh, he knows what he's doing. Nevermind, it was a bad idea.

A helmet would prob be cool here

u/conventionistG 15h ago
But would it look cool?

I’m getting the feeling with these life decisions, I have a rough idea how he went blind.
72
u/Fish-on_floor 17h ago
Why is he not wearing a helmet
88
u/Bigfops 17h ago
He went blind by hitting his head skateboarding and he's trying to reverse it.

u/noctalla 16h ago
Solid plan. The only danger I can foresee is if he accidentally bumps his head twice during the same accident, restoring his vision, then immediately blinding him again. But, I guess he'd just be back to where he is now. So, no harm done.

u/Skizot_Bizot 16h ago
Unfortunately no luck on the sight returning yet, instead the falls just keeps swapping what language he's fluent in.

If that guy isn't actually blind, that's really funny. If he is, I feel like someone probably should have stopped him, or at least stood in the way on the far wall.

u/slamdanceswithwolves 16h ago
If he isn’t blind, he probably shouldn’t have yeeted himself out of the skatepark.
I mean, he shouldn’t have either way, but being blind would explain the outcome.

u/Luke_Cold_Lyle 16h ago
If he's not blind, it's likely a gag

u/slamdanceswithwolves 16h ago
Quite a commitment to the bit if so. He clipped his ass and probably fucked up his shoulder as went over the wall.
3
u/random9212 16h ago
That's what makes me think he might actually be blind.

u/bloodfist 15h ago
Not sure if I recognize this dude but there is a blind skater I watch on YouTube sometimes. Dude built a whole accessible skatepark with obstacles specially designed for the vision impaired. This dude kinda looks like a guy he had there trying it out, so I think he actually is blind, but I can't be sure.
The extra long cane makes me think he probably is though. That's a lot of commitment to the bit and something blind skaters do use so it seems more likely to be real. But who knows. Dude sent it just as hard either way lol

u/slamdanceswithwolves 15h ago
Oh yea, I definitely think he is blind. He is also looking vaguely off to the side as she is skating forward.

u/unit5421 11h ago
If he was blind then he would not have made it as far as he did. A blind person cannot practice skateboarding. This is all fake but funny.
Changes are that there is something soft to break his gall right behind that ramp.

I think he’s really blind. And I think he’s done that drop in before and was successful plenty of times. His movement to stick the landing looked like he was ready for it, but misjudged the height of the ramp. It looks like he’s prepping to land on the right side of the ramp but accidentally hit the lower part on the left.

u/explosiveegg 9h ago
I think that is Dan Mancina. Who is actually blind.
He learned to skate while he had vision and continues to after he lost his vision.
That being said, it could definitely be someone else.

I love how everyone is analyzing everything about this, real or fake, where's the helmet, but it's just a homeless dude on fent 😂

I like the bystanders on the back side.
“This blind dude just fell out the sky!”

u/thevogonity 17h ago
They are there to position the landing pad(s). Throw it under him just before landing like they do in gymnastic tumbling.

Imagine being blind and thinking hey this isnt so bad, im gonna try being paralyzed next!
2
u/DrManhattan_DDM 16h ago
If at any point he was worried about feeling excluded by the skating community he can rest easy. There’s nothing more authentically ‘skater’ than busting your ass doing something dumb.
2
u/glowboboro 14h ago
Burnside skatepark in Oregon. Not even the highest drop in point. Dude knew what he was doing even if it was stupid! Skaters gonna skate!

I'm thinking of that video where the guy snatches the skateboard out from under the guy as he comes up the halfpipe lmao

u/AGrandNewAdventure 14h ago
That's not funny; guy is bold as fuck trying to do something new and dangerous.
We reward people for doing dangerous things all the time, but when they're blind it's just a bit of comedy?

u/Elite_Slacker 8h ago
I skate and if this guy is really blind and trying to skate a park this fast he is incredible in many ways. He really needs a helmet and some more help and planning though. That fall looked really fucking dangerous.

What blind guy has a tattoo?
Could have become blind later in life, idk.
He has good form though.

u/I_Sure_Am_Positive 3h ago
Agreed. I think he was already a good skater and then became blind, and he's trying to regain a sense of normalcy.

People in here all up in arms about helmet safety, yet If I learned anything from Robin Hood: Men in Tights, It's that a sudden blow to the head can cure blindness.
You go, brave skateboarding Blinken!

Imagine you're chatting with a friend and all of a sudden a blind, skateboarding Shaggy just falls from the sky and eats shit on the pavement in front of you. Life can be so wonderful.

That really cracked me up but man isnt skating blind kinda pointless? Youll never know how cool you look when you shred. Thats most of the fun is doing something sick knowing it looked clean. Then again thats probably a feeling similar to riding a rollercoaster for a lot less money. You're going fast and have no idea when its gonna stop.

u/Elite_Slacker 8h ago
Nah, gaining skill and pushing your own limits is the addictive part of skateboarding. The feel is way better than seeing yourself on a screen after.
This shit is so hard you cant even start to look cool until you have been doing it for like 4 years.
